Item Factors to Consider in Formulating Library and Information Science Curriculum for the 21st Century(Faculty of Education Federal Univeresity of Kashere, Gombe State, Nigeria, 2021-11-08) Jimada, Aisha; Goshie, Rhoda Wusa; Sambo, SuleimanThe purpose of Library and Information Science education is to educate individuals for career as librarians and information specialists to undertake instruction, research and service programs that will assist them meet up with current and emerging library and information need. This paper discussed factors to consider in library schools while formulating library and information science curriculum in the 21st century. The study found out that staff, instructional technology, open distance education, choice base, need base curriculum and need for national and international accreditation agency are some of the factors to consider in order to meet up with the current trend in the 21st century and job market. The paper also found out some of the inadequate infrastructure, / instructional facilities, lack of information and communication technology skills and outdated library and information science curriculum are some of the challenges facing library and information science and will continue to have problem in the digital era, these challenges can only be met if educators, library and information professionals work together and bring improvement through the curriculum with a great impact on work places. Entrepreneurship is a veritable tool for the achievement of inclusive growth and consequently sustainable development. In order to reduce unemployment and create jobs opportunity for Sustainable National Economic Development, Federal Government introduced some programmes such as NPower., Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (YEDI), Start-up Nigeria 2019, Trader Money, African Youth Empowerment of Nigeria (AYEN) e.t.c. The paper examines the role of Information and Communication Technology in job creation, sustainable national economic development and wealth creation. The paper concluded and recommended that entrepreneurship development leads to economic development, job creativity, economic sustainability, individual self reliance, improved standard of living better awareness and practice. For a proper and sustainable entrepreneurship development Federal Government and indeed other tiers of government in Nigeria should provide the enabling environment for the activities of entrepreneurs like provision of infrastructures, enacting and formulating of laws and policies that will aid entrepreneurship development in the country.
